An Expert Reveals The Real Deal About Pure & Safe Drinking Water

The safety and good health of the whole family is every mom’s top concern. That is why it’s best to be mindful of the quality of foods and drinking water that are consumed in every household.

When it comes to choosing the drinking water to give your family, trust the experts. Dr. Alberto G. Romualdez, former Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, former Health Secretary and currently the Dean of the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila  answers queries about the importance of pure and safe drinking water and how it can help avoid waterborne diseases, especially during the rainy season.

Q: What disease will the family likely get in relation to not having enough or not drinking clean water?
A: Contaminated water can cause infectious gastrointestinal problems manifested by diarrhea and vomiting. Those who suffer from dehydration are more likely to be affected by gastrointestinal infections as well.

Q: What advice can you give to moms out there who want to keep their families healthy and safe from waterborne disease?
A: When in doubt, they should check with health authorities about the quality of water in their area as well as the integrity of their sources for bottled water.

Q: As an authority on health, what do you think are the criteria for choosing the right drinking water?
A: Water supplied by identified sources that have been certified safe by health authorities (such as BFAD) is the best.

Q: What should people know about distilled water?
A: Distilled water is highly purified water. From the point of view of avoiding contamination, distilled water is even less likely to have biological contaminants than simple boiled water.
